Princess Märtha Louise of Norway and Shaman Durek Verrett are taking legal action against former members of their inner circle.
The couple is suing 14 individuals, including Verrett’s half-sister and former business partners, for allegedly causing them reputational damage over the past several years.
In legal documents obtained by PEOPLE, the Norwegian princess and her husband say they are seeking $80 million in damages, alleging defamation and the violation of confidentiality agreements.
The complaint reads, “This action arises from a calculated betrayal of trust. Former intimate partners, trusted business associates, a family member, and other presently unidentified participants took the private access once afforded to them and weaponized it — transforming confidential communications, disputed accusations, and claimed insider knowledge into a coordinated series of devastating public attacks against Plaintiffs Verrett, his wife Princess Märtha Louise and [Verrett’s production company] Ohana.”
