Thoughts on Trump’s NFL comments

Posted on Sep 24, 2017 in Business Litigation

There is a common theme with the President’s statements and/or tweets — open mouth, insert foot. He did it again when two of the largest sports leagues in the country, the NBA and the NFL, jumped all over his comments. This talk discusses what he said about the NFL. When speaking in Alabama, he jumped on the players who took a knee during the national anthem, an act that was started last year by Colin Kaepernick, stating that the owners should “get that son of a bitch off the field right now.”

What a silly statement. While we may agree or disagree that the taking of a knee is disrespectful and inappropriate, the one thing we do agree on — and our President should be aware of — is that every citizen has a right to protest any American symbol. Whether its burning the flag, or burning an effigy of the President or taking a knee; each act — whether or not you agree — is a statement protected by the First Amendment.

Donald should have better things to do then meddle in this dispute. Let him stick his foot in his mouth on other issues.
