Donald Trump: Tale of the Tape?

The NYT revealed that Cohen may have tape recorded conversations he had with Donald Trump – yes, conversations! So, the real story is not what Trump said to Cohen during that single conversation about paying off the former Playboy playmate Karen McDougal, who alleged an affair with Trump, to keep her quiet. After all, the world is aware that Cohen did Trump’s dirty work – he paid Stormy Daniels $130,000 on the eve of the 2016 election to silence her about their earlier affair and it became clear – months after the payment was revealed – that Trump paid for that payout.

The bigger story is that, as CNN reported, the FBI may have several other recorded conversations he had with Trump and others! While we do not know the subject matter of the tapes, and we also do not know the extent of their friendship, we do know: (i) Cohen was his attorney/fixer; and (ii) Cohen felt the need to tape record those calls. So, the content of those recordings may be strong evidence to the FBI as to Trump’s involvement in potentially violating the federal election laws and or other sorted crimes. Again, we also don’t know the number of recordings Cohen has or who else is on the recordings.

The existence of the recorded calls is also troubling to Trump’s inner circle, as they may also be on the recordings. To be continued …
